A tree fell on my house!

I have a huge tree which my family help cut down half of summer before last - and a great big limb of what was left standing (the tall part) fell on my house! I can't believe no windows are broken.

I need to borrow someone's chainsaw!

Just pushed on the tree - I'm not moving that without assistance from a rope or a bulldozer or something... Plus, I decided that it's probably not a good idea to stand underneath the very heavy tree while pushing on it, huh?

I think the real question here is: Did the tree make a sound because you weren't there to witness it fall?

I think the damage is minimal - I just have to figure out how to get it off the roof.
People at work say that I shouldn't move it by strapping a rope to myself and a rope to the tree and pulling ... hahaha - but hey - why not, that was my first thought! If I did that I'd have to borrow Andy's rock climbing ropes though - I won't damage them, promise :)

I didn't hear the tree fall ... it would have had to have made a LOUDER noise! :-p!

We had a discussion similar to the ageold "tree falling sound" question while hiking - so, we know birds chirp in the woods, right? If noone hears the birds chirping - are they really making any noise or are their vocal cords not vibrating as normal?
Exactly. The vocal cords still vibrate.
I think trees make noise when they break (causing a vibration which = sound) no matter who is listening.

Yep!

I have a plan.

We're going to need a Yak and a bucket of Pony Nuts though...
